One of those days
Did you ever have one of those days?
No, not those days.
But a really extra beautiful and productive day?
A day where things, while not being perfect are finally offering you handles to swing them around by. In essessnce you have enough control for the day that your mind is tolling ‘all is well, all is well.’?
And then you check your messages, Oh it’s mom, they were in town ten min ago, but are leaving. A quick call to her driving away says it was too late for them to wait really. I scold her for not waiting to stay and buy me dinner.
And then she hits me with it.
‘Well, you didn’t call me on my birthday, I guess we’re even’
All wind is taken out of my sails. I have been deflated.
And Oh, I can hear the pain in her voice. I find myself apologizing profusely, with tears. I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.
I almost jump in my car to drive home, but icq’s from Boy tells me thats not a very good idea.
I feel so ashamed, I will make ammends, but shoot, birthdays only come once a year.
In other Quixotic news(Hah! No segue for you…)
I got my paper back ‘C+’. a ‘+’ better than I could have gotten at the beginning of the summer. Blah. But it’s over, as Heidi says.
Boy tells me to learn from it, and realize that 2 weekends of work do not an ‘A’ paper make. And while I’m sure it was at least a B, and that my other papers last semester were b’s I can’t expect a better grade. He also tells me to learn from it. And yesteday I made the resolution to work harder, be on time, do really well.
Which I suppose swings me full circle, I worked very hard on my presentation, and even got to class early to set it up.
I gave no thought to my mothers day of birth.
We’ll have to see how flowers from
Boy will do.
We interupt this angst with a newsbrief
She just called me back, Boy was waiting on the doorstep with the flowers from me. I wished her happy birthday. She said the flowers were beautiful, and that he must like me pretty much, because he was waiting for them to get back from on the road(I had called her cell phone.)
I gotta get to Aikido. more later.
btw I’ll spell check later
