strategies of persistance
Tuesday draws to a close, and somehow I’ve had a terrific day!
My job-shadow went great, was a lot of fun, and very exciting. They are a really incredible ad and design place, having major clients, a funky design, and great additudes. I was greeted by a orange cat, as I came into their offices through the ‘back way’, (They are remodeling). I got to sit down a brushed steel table and read through some of the PR their company has gotten recently, and then one of the company partners took the time to explain to me their pr strategies of persistance.
And Boy has recently informed me that it’s not always the good, or the creative that
get the clients of jobs, it is instead the persistent.
And they have a great persistance policy for their pr. Would you beleive they send out three general releases a month?
Just to stay in the minds and ears of trade magazines and potential clients. It was overall a really informative visit. We finished a bit earlier than expected, so I left their wonderful interior designed offices and went to lunch with Boy
Which was very nice.
Over Fazoli’s super cheap, really great italian food we discussed dreams of fame and talent. The web wonderful, my growing design sense
, his actions to become published. He dreams big, inspires me to make my dreams bigger, and
has great design advice to boot! I bought two design books at Borders today,
I purchased ‘The Design of Everyday Things’ which will help me continue to get a handle on programming and designing for the user. And then I picked up a pretty picture book with some great information also.
That one is called ‘The New Design Sourcebook’, it’s actually a really nice condensed visual reference of different design styles from 1850 to present day. IT did, however, upset me a bit, because it educated me. (Not in itself a bad thing)
Not only had I not realized that Art Nouveau and Art Deco have a good 25 years or so between each artistic movement, I find that the style that I’ve been really interested in is not Art Deco, but actually Art Nouveau.
Not that that’s too bad in itself, but the cognitive dissonance is well, a bit disconcerting.
I’ll be better tomorrow, giggle, and now that I know what my favorite style is, it’ll be easier to find things I’m looking for. Sheesh, Art Nouveau…
G’night all,
Stacie
ps…Ace and
Jess bought a furby over ebay… I’m sooo jealous…
