Storm Time
I can hear the rain’s relentless pounding on the roof of my office
building. It seems to make everything else seem a lot quieter. As if you
can hear, beyond the rain and my soft clicking keys, a silence
outstanding. Silence demanding to be given voice to deafen, and coo you to
cocoony sleep. Thunderstorms always make me feel strange. They feel like
change. The rain pelts, the silence calls, makes you want to snuggle back
into your warm bed. But when it’s over, things feel different. The
streets have been scoured by hard hitting drops, and swept by flash
floods. The wet ground smell is clean, before the sun heats too many
things up, and the sky is wide open just urging you to gaze up into the
blue yonder.
Horizon bound by storms and stress, we rarely look above street level.
The storms make me dream strange dreams too. Last night I drempt of a
gift of golden rings, an ornate coat, a strange wedding ceremony with
incense and strangeness in my living room, with no groom, I got almost to
the end of the ceremony before telling everyone I couldn’t’ go through
with it. And later in strange dreams, another ceremony, with some kind of
priest giving us each oversized fortune cards, though I got two stuck
together, each with a different woodcut picture and explanation paragraph,
I think mine were ‘management of time’ ‘management of money’. I was
supposed to get only one, but getting two was apparently fate. Then later
I was watching tv or something, and
HREF="http://www.novicius.com">Carlo called me out under the deck
(where did the deck come from)because he had found someone, who at first
we thought was a friend we don’t talk to anymore, curled naked in a fetal
position in a red or yellow childrens snow sled, but was someone
else. Things are all out of order, even when I relate them here, I would
walk through one door and come out another in another place. Strange
Storm Dreams.
In other news, before storms and strange dreams, HREF="http://www.wendrew.com">Wendy and Drew got married last
weekend. The service and reception were outside, and it was cold cold
cold. But aside from the cold, it was lovely. The grooms family’s land is
green and spacious, with huge trees and rolling land, and bordered by
beautiful farmland. A long dusty drive leads up to a fabulous house,
there was a big white pavilion with plastic french windows for the
reception and dancing. But the most beautiful thing, (aside from the HREF="http://www.wendrew.com">bride, of course) was the dais they were
married on.
It had a beautiful archway of greenery suspended between two large trees
and had two wooden(light wood) pillars in front of that with twisty smooth
branches(same light wood) coming out of the tops of the pillars and below
the green archway were dark twisty branches arranged in a large fan
shape.(when the pics develop you’ll see).
A good friend of us all, ChrisM, officiated the wedding and gave a
beautiful ceremony for the two, the last part went something like ‘As I
give you my hand, I give you my trust” or was it ‘As I give you my hand, I
place my life in yours’ anyway it was really pretty.
Wendy looked like a princess, she had a beautiful wedding dress
with a not too long trail that made her look a bit like a glimmering
mermaid.
There was beer and ciderjack(yum!) on tap, and most of the grooms family
started drinking before the ceremony(On Par for the family I guess,
they’re mostly English). And HREF="http://www.delusional.com">Heidi was all decked out as the
Matron of honor. She had a really interesting hairdo, which I’m told took
her three days to wash out of her hair. And I’d tell you what her husband
wore too, but I don’t know, he didn’t come to the wedding of the people
who stood up in his own wedding 6.5 months ago. He didn’t come see his
friends from his home towne who came, and he dissapointed his wife and
everyone else in the extreme. His plan, apparently was to sleep or
something, or to get back at her for wanting him to get up and come. GRRR
hear me voice my displeasure.
So, Heidi joined the family in pre wedding ciderjack. and post wedding
ciderjack. and lots of ciderjack. (It was really good ciderjack I had a
good deal too)
Ben, best man and younger brother of the groom was
also on his way to passing out before dinner when he gave his toast ,
starting with ’18 years ago I was married’, and ending with ‘I hope you
have a long and beautiful wife.’ Things went down hill from there, the
matron of honor and the best man fell down a good bit, were silly, and
sad.
The rest of the wedding was a blur, it got dark, we had a
pig roast, and good catered food, danced a bit, had Ben drive Heidi and I
around in a golf cart. Carlo played hackey sack with a whole bunch of
people, and was a wonderful date, considering how I kept flitting off to
see people I haven’t seen in 2 months. Darien lost, then found his new
earring. Pictures will be forthcoming, as soon as I get them into the
developers.
I had 6 rolls developed just this week from previous stuff, I love HREF="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SC3Y/quixotica">my
elph2 camera and had wal-mart scan them in for me, while they were at
it. Only 3 of the rolls got scanned so the rest might be a while, but if
you want to look at a bunch of strangers, you may or may not know, you can
check
out my pics directory. Man though, these are getting so expensive to
develop at the rate I’m going, cost me 55 bucks this last time, perhaps I
should get a HREF="http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/ELPH/ELPH.html">Digital
Elph*drool*
