Ren Faires Rock!

July31

Another day spent recuperating, mostly lying around, taking more ibu. and more ice packs for my cheeks.

It’s always strange to sleep and rest so much, but still be tired. Ah well, despite my upset stomach (which apparently doesn’t appreciate my perscriptions)

I’m so glad I’ll be able to update anywhere now, I love this new database system.! yah!

I have a bruise along my jawline on the right side of my face, I’m hoping it dissapears by this weekend. We are going back to the Ren Faire, and I want to look good. Once again we are going in costume! and my costume got a great big upgrade last week.

Glam Faire Chair

Oh, the Ren Faire, We had suuuch a great time, so much to see and do and eat, so much to buy, we hardly sat down all day! We had bought some costume starter outfits. pants and shirts. But shortly after we got there I bought a leather bodice and a chemise. Carlo bought some great leather shoes, and we both got these great leather pouches. You should be able to see them in some of the pictures! Feel free to look!

Ren Pics!

We also joined Friends of the Faire (thats what the medallion in the pics means), and got to see Sir Clisto in his Sir Ian
MacTavish Garb.

Such a great time, awesome pics. We were in such a good mood we decided to go all the way across the bottom of Wisconsin to visit our friends in the opposite corner, in platteville. SO, still in costume we drove, 5 hours due to poor navigation comprehension and bad road detours. There are a few tired pictures of us in Jon and Darien’s apartment.

Still, the guys in Platteville seemed excited about our short visit, (though we almost missed them), and we made it home aroudn 2:00am.

What an adventure! Though I think we’ll skip the long way home next time.

Chipmunk Cheeked

July30

Ok, this is really today’s entry, not a not an archived version, but a brand new fresh piece of questing, just for you.

I have spent most of this weekend here in bed. Here being, of course relative, my old bedroom at my parents house. I had my wisdom teeth out on friday morning and have spent the weekend with ice packs on my cheeks, eating jello, and cake, and pudding and cheesy potatoes with bits of hotdogs stirred in.

Overall the pain hasn’t been to bad, today it’s a bit worse, but the doctor warned me that today my cheeks would be their puffiest, so I just suck it up and take more ibuprophens and pain relievers.

As sad as it seems, one of my goals for this weekend was to work on quixotica, and getting the database and the php working to make this one big smooth painless process. Yah! Rob has been excellent help, many many thanks go his way.

And it’s been awful nice to be able to use my Dad’s old laptop. I seriously need to get myself a nice laptop, talk about ultimate comfort. It’s wonderful to be able to write this entry with my head gingerly propped up on some pillows, with my dog, Josie, curled up by the foot of my bed, and my own feet hanging off the edge.

And it is true geek girl bliss, this database stuff. Which, excitedly, I’ll be learning more of at work, yah! In my new office, yah! in a new department, yah! (ok new for me anyway, with some really great coworkers, yah!) is that too many yah!’s?

Ok, well coherance is kinda sliding off the plate here, does that make any sense? Blame the pain pill.

I just want the record to show that I’m happy, and whilst in some pain, there are many great things on the horizon for me, all of them containing less pain than this.

Compared to knee surgery, this really is nothing. It’s just a pity that laughing and smiling hurt so much today. Tom Greene almose killed me, after lunch today, and I’m happy to report that all my smiling muscles seem to be ship shape, after testing them on a sneak preview of Space Cowbows tonight.(thanks to the parents for getting me out of the house)

Well, sleep is calling, can’t wait to see you all tommorrow, have a great week!

Fire Diver

July22

I am going to pretend that this php form works, and put in my entry in the
form for today.

I can’t wait until I get the whole process automated, no more editing 4
forms for an update, it will be pure geek girl bliss.

I have been so jazzed this week,
Carlo
and I are going to the Bristol Renaissance Faire tommorrow. And, we’re dressing up, it’s going to be a complete astonishing blast. I can hardly wait, I’m wearing my knee high black suede boots *right now*, giggle.

*Happy Sigh*

Today was a neat day too, I had lunch with my mom and did some shopping
for film and leather laces for Carlo’s outfit. Then, Heidi and I went to our
County Fair, it was sooo cool! (as some of you may know, I worked at county fairs all
over wisconsin for 2 summers during highschool)

Somehow, while I worked and traveled around during that time, I never got
sick of carnivals.
I still love the noise, lights, food, rides and people.

There was so much to see this time too.

We got there during a bicycle trick show, with the u shaped ramp
thing. Those people amaze me.
I mean, you can play skateboard trick games like Tony Hawks games, and
bicycle trick games, but you
never expect actual people to be flying around like they can control
gravity with their minds. They seemed
so light in the air, had such an elegance of movement and balance. Incredible.

I made sure to buy a corndog at one of the stands I used to work at, saw
someone I had worked with and was informed that she had married into the biz, by marrying the son of the biz. Goodness!

And then Heidi and I went to check out the bazaar going on inside, and we
found a wholesale knives place! woo! I got a knife for 10 bucks for my ren costume, it has a black blade with a black handle with a spider on it. (I hate spiders, hadn’t realized that) oh well, it still looks wicked cool.

wicked cool<br />
knife

Heidi got a cool one with a neat hilt that came up in a heart shape, um,
it’s hard to explain, but it looked neat too.

On our way out of the building we saw it was time for the high diving
show, we got cheese curds (we like cheese)
and sat down on the pavement to watch the show. It was an entertaining
troupe called the Flying Fools, apparently from
Canada, or France… “Whot arrr yu doo-ingg?” A third of the way through
their show they all started
running around in clown outfits and doing silly dives. But their grand
finale was the most impressive, they lit one of their members on fire and had her dive into the pool. It was great, and there was an explosion as she hit the water. It was so great, I got pictures of someone on fire.

heh
_________

Anyway, this entry is put up later than it was written, forgive me, things
just seem slow here,
I’ve been working hard on getting the database thing working, and now that
I have help.
It looks like that will be accomplished pretty soon, yah!

There are 2 new Galleries of the Absurd

I promise I’ll tell you about the ren faire soon,

Vacation!

July6

Happy 4th of July (a bit late). I hope you all had a great 4th weekend
and Independence day too, I sure did. I went up north with HREF="http://www.novicius.com">Carlo to his
aunt and uncle’s cabin on the lake, we went tubing, and rode on the ATV
trails, and swimming in the lake, and riding around in Mark’s boat. It
was such a great time, Carlo’s aunt Roxy is an extreme kick, and there was
a gaggle of family all around too. It was so nice to be surrounded by so
much family. Even if it’s not your own kin, it’s nice, there are more than
enough mothers around to be the responsible ones. Leaving the fun to ‘us
kids’. And I had a really wonderful good experience.

The ATV trails were so beautiful, everything was soo green and wonderful,
the trail sometimes overlooked this magical green gullies, so full of
leaves and bushes and vines that we couldn’t see the bottom. We went
riding about three times. The last time, right before we left was so
special. I saw a large doe on the trail, as well as a cute little baby
bunny, so small I could have cupped it in my hands, and I saw another
rabbit later during the ride too.

I’m such a city girl, who
knew? Keep in mind, you, that not all Wisconsin girls grew up on farms, or
know how to milk cows. I might know all about cheese and milk, but
goodness, I’m a ball of awe and wonder if you take me away from the city,
and out to semi-wilderness.

Often, when I’m around him, I feel overwhelmed with happiness. This long
weekend was full of that feeling. Warm sunlight on my skin, new bathing
suit, good food, and unending games of ’shaft your neighbor’ and Mystery
Rummy. We even managed to fit in a campfire, bottle rockets, and
sparklers! (I LOVE SPARKLERS!). Sparklers are like holding falling stars
in your fingers.

It was, as I told his Aunt Roxy, a 12 out of 10.
