Cocoon Saturday

August26

It’s raining very very hard. A clean washing of the out side of my apartment, water pinging off air conditioner, splattering high off my concrete porch. The storm darkness of night in the morning has made this a cocoon saturday, I slept really well last night, and could have stayed in bed all day.

I had a really nice birthday, Carlo bought me some beautiful peridot(my birthstone) and gold jewerly. He got me matching earrings and a necklace. All three stones are cut like hearts, set in pretty gold swirls. The necklace is a gold heart. He’s so sweet. I was totally blown away, I had no clue he had gotten me such beautiful things.

Last night Doug, Carlo and I grilled out on *my* grill for the first time. A definitive success, it’s small sunbeam grill, which is perfect for apartments and traveling. We got steak burgers and good hot dogs and lotsa ‘salad stuff’ pasta salad, potatoe salad and crab salad. I’m so glad my parents got me the grill, I’ve wanted one all summer. Living in an apartment complex in the summer means you almost always smell someone grilling out ever night when you come home. The smell wafting from all areas, kinda makes your skillet cooked chicken seem a bit bland.

I got some nice gifts too, The Princess Bride dvd, (one of our family favorites) and the directors cut of Blade Runner dvd. My parents also got me one of the funniest internet short flicks you can see, George Lucas in Love, a funny film spoof on shakespeare in love, and the star wars phenonmenon.

Yeah, for Amazon Wishlists! GURT bought me the way coolies How to Draw Tarzan, and Wind-x sent me the very strange and fun Seaman. That game come with a microphone that lets you talk to the creature inside the game, very weird!

Birthday dinner and kareoke has been put off for a couple weeks, when Carlo and I will celebrate both our birthdays. Everyone’s schedules should be calmed down enough to come have a good time.

Frank’s birthday party is tonight, yah! That should be fun.

I think I’m going to eat a burger and some leftover birthday cake for lunch. Have a great weekend everyone!

Ready

August21

Bah, it’s lunchtime, but I’m not really hungry.

So I’ll leave a few notes in here, if anything, to get rid of the double entry from last week(got to get that fixed…)

I’ve been having dolphin dreams swirling and swooping through dark and distant waters.

On thursday, I’ll be 22, wheee!

If you’d like to see some of the things I’m hoping for, check these out.

Finally got to see Fight Club it was a lot different than I thought it’d be. I mean, I just thought it was about Fight club, and fighting, and well. It made me think, and the direction was pretty neat.

This weekend we, though mostly Carlo, washed my ’91 firebird. It’s been cleaned off, vacuumed, and armoralled, no more dust, dirt, grime. And new car smell! heh. It’s nice to have my car looking so nice. Though it took him about 3 hours, with my help, to get it done. It sure takes a lot to keep cars in tip-top shape.

So yeah, it’s a big week, hope everything goes well, hope to have fun.

BJ at school

August16

I took the day off to be with my family today

I’m at BJ’s college right now, kinda tired, we had to get up at 4:30 to get here in time for all the things going on today. I’m just about ready for a nap.

So, I’m in the library. I spent a little time sketching and writing on some scrap paper I found around, but my parents are in orientation from 1:30-3:00, and most of my sketching stuff is still in the van. :(

They have these computers in the library really locked down pretty hard, heh. i can’t get to quixotica. :( to check my mail or anything, and netscape crashes fairly often
bj’s at the gym or something.

The campus is really beautiful, just a few blocks from the water, and once you’re inside, it doesn’t feel like you’re in downtowne chicago. The Library is nice too, it’s in the basement, but there are windows overhead in some spots, bringing sunshine through, making it seem less basement like. Woo, a campus tour is just coming through.

Poor Bj, they over booked the rooms and he’s living in the floor lounge, which has been converted into a room, with room for 8 people! ack! heh. quite a surprise for a guy who enjoys his privacy as much as BJ does. But I think he’ll do fine, his roomates, mostly international all seem nice and I can see them all getting along well. Plus, his dorm is right across from the gym, which he is really excited about. Thankfully he had way less stuff than I ever took to college, heh.

I called Melanie from one of the phones in BJ’s room. That was way cool, we talked about Ren Faire stuff, she went last saturday too! We must have just missed her, she came just after 3, and we left around 4. Too bad, though we might have to catch another Ren faire weekend elsewhere.

Mom and Dad are being all silly and parenty, trying to make sure that everything gets taken care of before we leave my brother to his college life. It’s totally driving my brother bonkers.

So, anyway, I’ll be here in the library till about 3:10. still not sure when we will be leaving, though I’m sure BJ just wants us gone so he can get on with his own plans.

ciao

Another good

August13

I am, very tired.

We went back to the ren faire again, just Carlo and I for a little bit on saturday. We had a really nice time just existing, while the pople and the smells of food, and sounds of the faire swirled around us. We saw no shows, ate tempura, Carlo bought an awesome mask (pictures forthcoming)

It was a beautiful day, though we didn’t get there till noon. It was not as dusty ast he first day, and not as humid as the second day this summer.

What a grand kalidascope of merriment.

Not much else for this weekend. Still laboriously archiving Questing entries. This might be a good time to re-read them (for those inclined), but I’d suggest you wait a bit, I’ll finish 1998 this week, and perhaps, if you’re good little children, I’ll input some entries from 1997. (oooh, ahh)

We have camping end of this week, should be fun, a final summery thing, methinks. I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Ciao,

Stacie

August Already?

August9

Wow, I sure have no idea how in the world August got here so fast. Graduation still seems very close, just a few weeks ago. and now it’s August?

Last year at this time, I was racing around a bit like Pong(We’ll miss you!), leaving my internship, racing off to ChicagoHellyeahParty, getting moved into my Dan’s house with Ace and Jess. I was so psyched about my 21st birthday. I really didn’t drink too much then, but had a great time, and my housemates, filled my room with balloons

Craziness, I guess I’ve been feeling a bit of that back to school fever, the changes of autumn forethoughts are starting to spin in my head. Sure, it’s hot and humid today, but nearer to my birthday(24th) it will be surprisingly cool.(I know, we once tried to have my birthday be a pool party when I was in 4th grade or so, brr)

We(Carlo, Tony, Jon) went to the Ren Faire on sunday. It was, again, an amazement of color and sound and tastes. I recieved a few compliments on my bodice! Way cool. Carlo got his handwriting analyzed, which was very interesting, though it seemed pretty private.

At one point we sat down on a stone wall to have some lemon and orange sorbets(served in lemons and oranges), and suddenly found ourselves surrounded by a bit of the show that goes on all day. There was a lady with letters, and soldiers trying to wrest them from her, and when they finally got them there was a fight, that ranged from in front of us to behind us! We had the best seats in the house, it was very impressive. The coolest thing was, we had no clue when the shows were, we were just relaxing, and the show came to us.

I regretably missed seeing Sir Clisto this time, but did manage to check in with the sword shop which was fun.

My brother is going of to college for the first time next week. I can hardly believe it. College was something that happened to me, not him, heh. I just hope he has a good of a time as I did at Platteville.

So happy too, I found my necklace which I was soo afraid I had misplaced for good.

Enjoy the end of summer, folks,

Stacie
