Sing for your 15 min
We went back to the Kareoke Kid last night, It was really nice not to have to cram in a full bar. Doug, Paul, Carlo and I practically had the whole bar to ourselves. It was great, we all got to sing several songs we wanted. We sang duets, each sang 3-5 songs, so much fun.
Last time our group only sang 3 songs and we had to wait an hour to get to them. I want to go back on another night that isn’t so busy too, its the best way to practice and get comfortable with the mics and screens.
Lets see, I sang, ‘Sweet dreams(are made of these)’, L-O-V-E(nat king cole), A duet with Carlo (Now I had) The time of my life, and ended with Fiona’s Criminal(I started strong and kinda lost it, I hate the annoying bar guys that had to take the table right by the mike and talk loud right beside me). It was kinda sad too, I was the most comfortable at the end there, and while I had trouble with part of the song, it was ok. But those jerks were so loud and distracting, I couldn’t tell if they were talking to me, about me or just being obnoxious. Heh, so I started singing much higher than I started. Ah, well, Carlo says it’s time to practice. Carlo sang ‘White Wedding’, and hit the notes with confidence. Paul has an amazing voice(the bartenders kept shouting for him and holding their lighters up), and Doug sang something about cakes melting in the park.
It’s hard to go on a weeknight though, by 10:30 I was much too tired to continue. In fact, I was so ready to go that I forgot to settle my tab with the bar. (oops, they still have my debit card)
