End of the month

Tuesday, January 30th, 2001

So, the month of January is winding down.

It is so strange to be out of work for so long. I’m used to producing, going to work, being at work, talking about work.

It’s a cross between an extended vacation, and a full time job. I spend a good deal of time on the phone with my minions, I mean consultant/recruiters. They’ve been pretty quiet until last week, and now everyone is my new best friend. So, there are some opportunities on the horizon.

But, it’s still been a strange month.

In other news, I GOT MY SWORD! it’s so awesome! I’ve left a pic of it on the QuixCam, get it while it’s hot, and you can look forward to seeing some SWORD pics in the absurd galleries later.

Just thought I’d leave a little note for y’all. heh. Keep your eyes open for me, on the job front. I’ll make you an official Quixotica Minion. ;)

We WON!

Friday, January 26th, 2001

Woo, I signed up for a way cool drawing at the wedding show, a couple weeks ago, they called today to tell us we had won an ALL INCLUSIVE Dream Vacation! Woo! they pay for 3 days/2 nights in Puerto Vallarta! food, drinks, activities. It looks awesome! It’ll be awesome for our honeymoon. We were planning on going there anyway, and then spending some time with Carlo’s family. It’s going to be so cool.

Well, we’re off to Pizza Hut for dinner, more laters!

Knight School

Wednesday, January 24th, 2001

Whew, today has been a pretty busy day for phone calls. I’m still in the job search, so it was nice that so many people called me back about things today. In between phone calls it was nice to work on slowly organizing my part of the office, and the continuing saga of laundry in deep space.

And in between all that I tweaked the lovely css for the all pages and reformatted a good deal more of QuixMix to the flavor of this new design.

It feels good to do some housekeeping, here and around the apartment. So many things to keep organized! Wedding details, Job details, Art details.

Oh yeah, and Knight school. Heh, there is a local SCA group here in town, and they have heavy weapons practice downtowne at the stock pavilion on campus, on Wednesday nights. It’s a lot of fun, the people are all really nice. I’ll be learning all sorts of things, crafts, costuming, armoring.

I’m trying to decide exactly what culture to start from in the way of costuming and armoring. A bit partial to Russian, though there is not as much information on earlier Russian costumes and arms as I’d like, on the web. If you do any of this sort of thing, and have some links to send my way, please Send Me some Russian Love

Well, that’s all the news that’s fit to print, this week so far. Talk to you all later. :)

OH, WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!

My sword, my Ren Faire (not SCA) sword, it comes this week! The guy called last night to tell me it was done, and he’s shipped it out today! I should have it by weeks end!

So EXCITED!!!

I promise to take some pics once I get it! WOO!

Wondering about my silence?

Tuesday, January 16th, 2001

I know you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to? You want to know how I’m doing, and you’ve come here everyday, hoping something will change. Some sort of change, a graphic, a journal entry, a different background color, anything.

And everyday you were disappointed.
Well NO MORE!, here you go, a design so new you can still smell the fresh pixels. We’ve have shiny new graphics, internal changes and a whole new exciting outlook.

I sure hope you were shocked, I had to exhibit so much self-control not to tell you, give you an inkling of what I was up to. To hold myself back from uploading the design piecemeal. But it’s worth it. Yah! I am so high on web fumes here. It feels really nice to create something fresh.

I would really, really, love to hear what you think about it. Please visit my contact form and send me some love.

I’d also like to congratulate some friends of ours, it appears they had a rather nice anniversary, and are now engaged.(yah!) Congratulations Russ and Naomi! We wish you all the best. (*Now you’re both famous*) Everyone else should drop by their webpage, and check out the wonderful engagement ring, and send them a little note.! Love is grand.

Welcome to the New Year

Look, I’m here ;), everything’s ok, Quixotica is fine.

I have, however, had a strange few weeks.

We did all go to Ohio, saw a ton of family, got to stay at my cousin’s house with her an her husband. We also got to see Carlo’s great-uncle and his second cousin and her husband. They live in Cincinnati.

We also dropped into Kentucky for about 5 minutes, Carlo bought a paper to prove it. It was a really good time over all, my cousins have gotten much taller(one taller than me), and grow up(getting his license, has a girlfriend). I’m not quite sure how that all happened, I must have been gone longer than I thought.

And everyone seemed to really like my fiance, which is very nice, considering, of course the upcoming wedding.

Speaking of wedding(woo!), My maid of honor, Becky, and her mother, came down this past weekend to spend some time with my mother and I. Becky’s mother used to own a flower shop, and has offered to help arrange some of the flowers for us. We went to a liquidators place, and got a ton of decorations, mostly silk flowers for an awesome price. It was so cool to see the mothers get all excited. Then, we dropped by a wedding shop and I tried on wedding dresses, and I think we found one that’ll be perfect. It’s beautiful, fits fairly well, and is a totally unbelievably low price. (yah!) Standing there, in front of the mirrors, with a veil draping down my hair onto my back, I was overwhelmed with emotion. It’s crazy, I’m actually trying on wedding dresses, I’m actually getting married. wow.

And well, most of last week and this week has been full of resumes, interviews, and recruiters. I’ve been extremely busy job searching. Tell you what! :) If you think I might make a good fit at your company, send me an email, telling me where you work, and I’ll send them a copy of my resume. Yes, you, even you could work in the company of a Quixotic chick. ;)

Still, it all feels pretty strange, it’s a new year, and I easily switched from writing 2000 to 2001, but a year ago, I could have never guessed I’d be searching for a job like this. I know it’s a good thing though. I’m ready to learn some new skills, meet some new people. There is a lot of exciting things held within this year. I’ll be married, working somewhere different, hopefully have lost some weight in there too. I can’t wait to see what is in store.

Have a good week,

Stacie
