My Car, My Rims

Wednesday, February 28th, 2001

So, we bought a new car today. Well, new to us anyway. We got a ‘98 Neon R/T, white with blue racing stripes. It looks very cool. It’s a 5-speed, something I’ll be getting used to, but should be a lot of fun.

I took a half day off to take care of all the paperwork, silly DMV stuff. At least we got to finally put in our change of address forms, while we were there.

Tonight, Carlo and I went out to the American Family parking lot so I could practice with the clutch, and moving through gears and stuff. He said I did better than the other couple people he’s taught, to start.

I’m hoping to get the whole gearing thing much smoother, so it won’t be all violent, heh. And so I can drive it asap. He tells me it’s a pretty forgiving car to learn on. I’m all excited. It’s cheaper monthly, it’s easier on the gas, and better on ice.

Wheee, way cool!

Yeah, so i finally broke down and got a cell phone. I’m jazzed up with Verizon and my 8 state local calling plan. And the fact that I was able to get the last 4 letters to spell QUIX. How’s that for website loyalty?

Anyway, it’s really nice to have with the commute and all. Believe it or not, I’m the last person in my family to get one. Never had a good enough reason. The salesguy said he sold a whole bunch of these phones/plans to people who work inside the hotel I work beside. So I felt really confidant about getting it. Plus, apparently the connection is quite clear, my Dad couldn’t tell I was in the car. That makes me feel good. Yah for being a well-informed consumer.

I’ve been trying to connect it to my web page. It’s not exactly working the way I want it to.

I mean, you can go to this page, and within seconds a short email will hit an account my phone can get(if I take the time to connect and check.) But… I thought it was supposed to beep or buzz or something when I got those, and I just don’t know how to make it work. I’d love any hints or tips you all would have.

Tommorrow, I might have more to tell you, not about my phone. Tommorrow… until then, vrooom.

I like who I am

Tuesday, February 20th, 2001

Did you ever think about when you like yourself the best? Last night, after a long commute home(read 3 hours). I grabbed my gym stuff, my swim suit, and headed to the club. I was supposed to meet Nancy there, but I was over an hour late, and we got our wires crossed about which club to go to anyway. I’m glad I went.

I had a wonderful workout, 5 miles on the bike, no problem to do thanks to the subtitled TV’s they have. And then I grabbed my towel and suit and did a few laps in the pool. It was really strange, it’s been so long since I’ve been swimming, my flutter kicks felt so foreign. I remember that I used to spend quite a bit of time at the club in my home town. Sometimes, it feels like I grew up there. I remember watching the ceiling go past as I backstroked my way up and down the laplane. The club there is nicer than the one we go to, but ours is closer. (whatever gets you there, I suppose) I topped this night o’ activity off with a nice soak in the whirlpool, which was warm and relaxing.

Drying my hair at the club, with one of their provided/attached to the wall hairdryers, I found myself thinking, “I like who I am when I exercise.”

I feel really strong, independent, healthy, sexy. Good feelings. I should go more often.

Exercise is sure to pick up your mood, last night’s let me sleep so well, I had a great day today. (The sunshine and clear roads helped too, no doubt)

Valentines night

Wednesday, February 14th, 2001

I had a good day at work, got back at a decent time and Carlo was all ready to go out for a nice dinner, he had even called around to see the wait time. I gave him my card(A cute wiener dog poochie card) and a mega bag of twizzlers, and we went out for an awesome dinner at Imperial Garden.

The Imperial Garden is our favorite Chinese food place to eat, the atmosphere is nice, and their food is wonderful, we hardly ever go anywhere else.

He had the General’s beef, one of our favorites, and I had the biggest Sushi Combo they had! Yum! They brought me all these strange new pieces of sushi and sashimi, and I got to try so many new pieces of things. I had tuna(bright pink/red-very fresh tasting), squid(strange texture, beautiful to look at), octopus, some smoked salmon, a piece of cooked shrimp and some yummy California rolls. There were a few other things that I had no clue what they were, and the chef kept hiding wasabi under things(heh), but it was soooo YUMMY!

I was already happy, but sushi is just a food that makes me happy in general, so many delicate things to try, to taste, and none of it really tasted fishy. I think I like fish better like this than most totally cooked fish.

Anyway, It was a totally cool way to spend my last Valentine’s day as an unmarried chicka.

All you skeptics out there, listen up, love is real, it’s really out there, don’t lose hope.

Have a great night

Valentines Day

Wednesday, February 14th, 2001

I was surprised this morning with flower, candy and a cute little smooch pooch stuffed animal. I’m so fortunate to be in love. So fortunate to have someone so special, who loves me this much. I love you Carlo, and look forward to our life together.

first day done

excited, but exhausted. Visited the Dino for the first time, ate lunch at a resort hotel. everyone is nice. php is king.

First Day on the job.

Tuesday, February 13th, 2001

So, A lot has been going on, and I didn’t want to seem over optimistic here. (Though indeed I was)

I have a J O B !!!

Woo!

It’s a bit of a drive, but really only 40 min of interstate driving up to the Dells.

For those of you outside Wisconsin, The Dells are
“One of the largest tourist attractions in the Midwest”, they have indoor and outdoor waterparks, attractions of all shapes and sizes, several minigolf places, water shows, fireworks, wax museum. You get the idea.

I’ll be working for a keen little company(that’s getting ready to grow). They do a whole lot of web development and design. Many of their clients are some of the resort hotels there. Its a place called FinishLineStudios, and they operate out of a building on the greyhound dog track.

So, anyway, I’m excited, this seems so surreal, partially because I’m up so darned early(forgive me if these sentences don’t quite connect) and partially because I got hired so quickly, after so long of searching for a job.

Talk to you all later,

Stacie
