Tired but happy.

Thursday, April 26th, 2001

I am utterly exhausted.

Summer hours require me to be in to work earlier than usual. I’m just not used to having to leave for work at 6:15. Going to bed at a decent time would solve this problem. And I had planned on doing that. But, of course, last night was SCA stuff and I even convinced Nancy to come and meet me there. Turns out that we didn’t do throwing weapons like I thought we were going to. And apparently Raito (my trainer) is getting ready for a tournament, so all of us newbies have to wait several weeks to continue training. A little disappointing, but Nancy and I caught up, and watched the heavy weapons fighters beat at each other. (I want armor!) And watched Nancy lust after some random scot.

It was really cool to talk again, she’s an awesome person, always makes me feel more creative and excited about things. She’s gotten into mosaics like nobody’s business and we daydreamed about traveling around to ren faires and selling mosaics(her) and fantasy portraits(me) , it would be awesome if I ever got that good.

And we hung out there till almost ten, and then went to Perkins for some tea and salads. And somehow time passed even faster and it was suddenly midnight.

Needless to say, I’m having trouble focusing on things. I keep trying to curl up around my work laptop.

I can’t wait to get home for a nap, I’ve been thinking about it since I got here.

Also, Carlo and I went through all our bills last night and paid them, woo. We were mostly just being lazy, and our mail pile was growing larger and larger, included in the bills was my official SCA membership.

Wedding Things

  • Registered Thursday and Friday, last week.(Kohls, JCPenny’s)
  • Went back on Saturday with Mom to go through the registries to make sure things matched, and we had what we needed.(Kohls, JCPenny’s)
  • Registered again with Mom at the first place Carlo and I had registered, for the remaining things.(Target) (resisted buying a hello kitty hairdryer)
  • We now have a church, AND a pastor.
  • We started looking at invitations, have 2 huge books of them from the printers (I wasn’t really impressed with these sets, I have to trade these in on 2 more huge books(think the size of large shopping bags)
  • Asked my cousin Sarah to be my personal attendant, she’s so cool.

Tomorrow is crazy hat day at work, I must remember to bring my Fez. It’s also a half day. Yah!

And today is payday! Woo.

In other news, my brother and parents are in California by now, they left at 5am on a flight, as far as I know, my brothers birthday is on Saturday, but they won’t get back till Sunday night I think. My brother works with the airline. Had a week or so off for the strike stuff though. I wish I could be with them, fun and sun and a family vacation, I don’t think we’ve had one of those since I was twelve.

Salt in my oatmeal

Tuesday, April 17th, 2001

Yesterday I put Lowry’s seasoning salt in my oatmeal. It was an honest mistake, really. Half asleep, reaching into the cabinet that holds our meager selection of spices, the seasoned salt container was quite similar to my cinnamon container.

I realized it just as the salt hit the oatmeal. Not sure if it was the smell first, or finally focusing on the lid of the salt, which is a tad different after all.

I tried to scrape some off, tapping the bowl sideways on the sink. Which helped, a little. I continued with the sugar and cinnamon, as usual, but my morning meal didn’t taste quite right. I would not recommend it. Heh.

Had a good Easter, went to church with my parents, and brother, (its rare to get us all together at the same time.) Then I rushed off to Cher’s (my mother-in-law to be) to spend some time with her and her husband Les, and Carlo’s Grandmother. Apparently I just missed Tiff (Carlo’s stepsister) and her German exchange student friend, but the rest of us had a good time anyway. We talked about wedding stuff (eek only 11 weeks J ). Cher took a couple cute pictures of Carlo and I with her digital camera, and printed some out, one of which went into really cool frame with lady bugs and daisy’s on a weathered white stone frame. It’s living in my cube now, first time I’ve ever had something like that to put up. Mark and Roxy(Carlo’s aunt, and uncle, Cher’s brother) came by to pick up Grandma, on their way up to Eau Claire, so we got to visit a bit with them too.

It snowed yesterday, sheesh, no accumulation really, but it was coming down in almost white-out conditions last night. Only in Wisconsin. It’s a bit nicer today.

Please understand

Do you understand what being in love with the world means?

It means, I see everyone today as the intelligent, talented, supportive, creative, beautiful and successful people they are striving to be.

You are intelligent, you are talented, you are supportive, creative, and beautiful. I am honored to be around you, to be touched by your life
you are successful, in a far better sense than money.

You make me happy, just being here, being you. I hope you have a nice weekend.

In love with the world

Thursday, April 12th, 2001

I don’t know why I feel so good today, more sleep perhaps. (overslept actually) Or the fact that today is payday. Both things are good things, I suppose the only way to make this day even better would be to have some sushi.

Sushi or not, I’m just having a wonderful day. I feel happy. Excited about my wedding, happy where I am, thinking kindly of everyone. I feel like I’m in love with the world.

Feels good.

Have a good day yourself, ok?

CRAZY

All this wedding planning is driving me up the wall. Just thought I’d share with you. Still trying to nail down a church. Can you believe it? just barely months before the date, and we’re still having trouble with the church. Found a beautiful one, but they’ve scheduled some church event that friday and saturday, so we can’t come in and decorate till noon on saturday.

Anyone in Madison Wi, know of a beautiful church that will marry us on june 30th of this year?
