Good days
mmm, I’m really tired, but I want to record the couple good days I’ve had this week.
Yesterday was a very productive day. I finally got to have the meeting with all the higher-ups at work about launching the website. I was pretty well prepared, brought handouts that discussed how I thought info should flow onto the site, and made it obvious that I waiting for content. They’ve assigned someone to gather said content, yah! and!! I arbitrarily picked a date for the launch, and no one said a peep about it! We’ll see how close to that we land, but still, it’s so nice to have an actual drop date for this puppy. heh. About 3 min into the meeting they asked for a site outline, which I had to go print out, I pulled up the outline, and quickly added and deleted some things that have been changed recently. Then I printed them out, but I forgot to get rid of the date at the top, 3-26-01, basically one of my first days at this job, when I reorganized on paper what the site would need to be reorganized and structured. It sure has taken a long time to get to this point. But yah! I’m hoping to launch before thanksgiving, I’m so excited about how much easier it will be for our customers to get information!
Right before I leave work I get a call from my husband who was reminding me about the wedding shower of a family friend that I was supposed to go to with my mom. After we finally figured out where she was (at home and not answering her cell) I headed over there and we rushed off to the shower, which was short and sweet, with no silly games (even though I like those) So strange that she and her sister soon are getting married, these are girls I used to play barbie and pretty ponies with.
As we were leaving I realized it wasn’t quite 8 yet, and I’d have time to go to the SCA after all, for thrown weapons week!!! But I was still in my work clothes and didn’t want to take them down to the stock pavilion. So! heh. I raided my mom’s closet, and she grabbed some black jeans out of a bag she’s been saving for me, and I was able to squeeze into a pair of 14’s! yah! (this is a good thing, last year or so I do believe I was in 18’s) and she loaned me a really sexy drapey shirt (reminded me of those eighties ripped out collar shirts, but with just a v neck.)
And I rushed down to thrown weapons, in a seriously good mood, I didn’t even mind too much that I had to wait for the train to pass at that intersection downtown. I got to the pavilion, I gabbed with our Marshall of thrown weapons , and he informed me that even though I don’t have my Marshal card yet, that me, and the three others who have sent our paperwork in a long time ago, are official marshalls of thrown weapons too, (the Head marshall of TW, for our kingdom is stepping down, so there’ve been paperwork issues lately)
This caused me to break into song spontanously (and strangely enough I was joined)
I’m a Marshall
You’re a Marshall
Wouldn’t you like to be a Marshall too! (dr. pepper?)
And I got to throw weapons, ok, so I didn’t throw well at all, but the tiny knives kept making the cutest little *ping* noises as they bounced off the targets. I got to do some marshalling (yelling!) and general socializin, and we all decided to start doing thrown weapons every week instead of everyother week now that we have roughly 5.5 marshalls, and I ended up with all the pointy weapons in my Jeep! (Which means I have to remember to go next week, or they will just have spears to throw, heh, they wouldn’t fit in my Jeep, and had to go in someones truck.)
I had an awesome time, and really feel like I’m getting to know some people down there.
And tonight, Amoura (nice girl from the plant story) and I(me, well, me) got together for the first time to draw together, and it was so much fun! We watched friends and the princess bride, and she drooled over my Edward Muybridge book, and my fashion design book (9 Heads), and we both came up with some neat sketches by the end. And I’m so excited that we’re going to keep doing this (and Zara too, when she’s done with softball!!) an I can already see some improvement. I didn’t wander off mid-drawing. And! I did a semi-3/4 pose, not straight on, and hands, and some background elements (ok, a pot, and a bush, but it’s a start) and! it’s not just a disembodied head like my usual subject matter! If we get to do this often enough, we can’t help but end up with some fun things by the end of it all.
I even started the sketch with the col-erase that Carlo keeps trying to get me to use, and you know what? I think it actually helped, a lot less mess. I do wish I had a slightly softer lead col-erase though, this one is very pointy and hard, and I push too hard, which messes up later lines.
Anyway, whew, that was a lot to write, but I want to remember this good mood, this productive mood, this independent wonderful mood.
*the hills are alive…. lah laha heh heh heh.*
I’m ok, really I am.
