Last of November

Friday, November 30th, 2001

Its the last day of the month, kids, how do you feel, what did you get done this month?

Surprisingly I got a good deal done, finished 4 books (remember those 3 I picked up at the used book store?), wrote half a novel, attended 2 funerals 13 hours away from each other, got my Christmas gift early (Xbox),
and got a lot of work work done.

I’m still a bit sad I didn’t finish my novel in the apportioned time, but glad I didn’t try that whole 6000 words a day this week, that would have killed me. But! It would have been possible, I know for sure that if I needed to, I could finish a novel in a month. I really had a good time writing, it felt nice, and it’s really all about pacing, 1667 words a day, 2000 words a day, totally possible. 6000 words a day, with a full time job, and a new Xbox in the house, not so possible without ulcers. But still possible. ;) It’s my fault totally, even with all the getting behind stuff and funerals, last week, I could have done 3000 a day to finish on time, and could have even caught up a bit on the weekend. I wrote quite a bit last week, but, not enough, and I didn’t really attempt to catch up over the weekend.

This is the kind of behavior that got me 3 incompletes in college( finishing papers after the semesters were over, over break). But! the difference is in how much I did finish. And I do plan on finishing. I’m sitting at 24127, and plan to finish tonight by getting an even 25000, just to be fair. I could have prolly gotten to 30000 this week, but I took it easy, after realizing I wasn’t going to do the 6000 a day. Still, it’s a lot of words, and I can’t wait to go back through and edit, after I finish the thing. :)

Few other things, Thanksgiving was very nice and relaxing, we got to play Halo with my father and brother, which was an absolute blast. My dad seems very impressed with our new toy, and enjoys playing it. He doesn’t get to play video games very often, but I remember, years ago, how much he loved Wolfenstein 3-d. and how he beat it without saving, because he didn’t know how to save. My brother is very good at games, did very well at DOA3 with us. We all laughed at the cheesy ending movies for the game.

We’ve gotten a good portion of our family gifts for Christmas bought already, yah. We think that everyone will be pleased.

Haircut on Saturday, plus we’ll be getting my parents tree from the tree farm, and possibly decorating too. Yah for the holidays.

p.s. had some database issues this month, so I just today added most of November’s content. If you’re curious, feel free to read the month from the beginning. :)

end of nanowrimo

Wednesday, November 28th, 2001

so, they have the winners page up on nanowrimo.com
http://www.nanowrimo.com/winners.html

I officially gave up trying to complete my novel by the 30th on monday. It was hard to do, but there was no way I could sanely get 6000 words in every day this week. Not worth the stress, not worth the stomach churning.

That being said, I’m about halfway done, still, and do plan on finishing, hopefully before the new year. Shouldn’t be so bad to finish at all. I’m still very proud of myself for getting as far as I have, i’m around 41 pages, single spaced in my novel. It’s more than I’ve ever written for any one project. It’s amazing how far you can get, if you just write a little bit each day.

We’re slowly getting our apartment into order too, so we can have adult company (too ashamed to have our parents visit, with our office in dissarray) we have done just about every bit of laundry we had, and then some, plus I vacuumed and dusted the bedroom last night, felt really nice.

red angers wrath

Tuesday, November 27th, 2001

so, we had a stupid fight last night, over a stupid thing, and we were both angry and upset at different points, and I called him a name, then, thought things were cool after we talked it out for a while. we both apologized and went to sleep.

i woke up today exhausted, emotionally spent, and kinda wandered my way through the day. what i didn’t know was that he was still hurt from the name i called him.

it doesn’t really matter, i can justify and rationalize ten ways from sunday, but if i hurt him, it he’s hurt… it’s not worth it. it’s not worth the anger i feel over the whole situation.

My mom took me out to dinner tonight, and urged me not to ‘mess this up’ this whole marriage thing, and imparted her wisdom, and hints from her experience to me. I took them to heart.

I was just too upset, and feeling sick to go to the basketball game with Ace and Jess, I stuck around home, caught buffy with the gang, and I’ve done an amazing amount of cleaning, laundry, dusting and vacuuming the bedroom. I hope that makes him happier. He means the world to me.

cheating?

Monday, November 26th, 2001

why is it that all cheating at writing my novel actually involves writing?

so far behind, i’ve made it to about 23000 never mind that last post, i must have been half asleep

i did fall asleep, thanksgiving night, after writing for about a half hour, face down in front of the laptop.

looks like i need about 6000 words a day to finish. eek!

I’m so glad, that means i’ll make 20 by tonight for sure.

I should be at 35007 today though. whew.

Well, one word at a time, right?

And i’m happy, introduced my male character, and he actually seems to have some

Why do i feel so proud?

Even I can survive a 3 day week

Monday, November 19th, 2001

Wow, the weekend went so fast, just whooshed right by.

Lesse, we played lotsa Xbox, had a good number of people over to fight and race. We did some light cleaning, and bought new cleaning supplies. Am I the only one who thinks new cleaning supplies are fun? Not so much fun after they are not new anymore, but we got to put new hockey pucks of bleach in our toilets, and for some insane reason, that made me happy, well that and having both bathrooms be clean at the same time.

On Sunday I got to see Harry potter, Nancy was in town, and we caught the matinee, which was fun, not as good as the book, but very true, and! I finally met Zara! yah, even though we couldn’t connect until after the movie was over. We’ll have to have her and Nate over for some good clean xbox’n fun.

I am having trouble breathing, seems I’ve been ambushed by a cold. bleh, and work has slowed considerable, pushing the launch of the redesign off to an unknown date. I wonder if I’m destined to be thwarted at trying to launch the site, eternally.

oooh, sleepies would be nice right now, curled up in bed with all my pillows. Whew, do I have writing to do, practically all of last week was a bust, writing wise, but, I figured out last night that If I do about 3000 a day, I can still make goal by the 30th, barring any further distractions. I will finish this challenge…

we were up playing with our new toy last night, till 1!!!

DOA3 is sooo sweet.
My husband is such a sweetie too, he greeted me at the door last night was was incredibly cute and cuddly, showing me the condolences basket work had sent, with neat little shortbread cookies, teas, and chocolate tools like the ones my company sells.

I asked him how his day was, and he said ‘intresting’, i asked what happened, and he, shyly, said ‘nothing’.

‘Then why was it intrestin…’ I said as I turned around from facing him and the counter to the tv set. There, on the floor was the xbox box, with the extra controller, and the 2 games.

‘Merry Christmas,’ he said, as I squealed.
