Art Class

Wednesday, August 28th, 2002

Just finished 3rd night of art classes. First night of actual drawing. My design fundamentals class makes me think of moderngypsy, we’ll be making logos, stamps, and magazine collages. ;) fun!

It’s also way cool that Maciek and I are in the same drawing fundamentals course, it’ll be nice to have someone to hammer things out with. Our teacher seems neat too, he’s an illustrator from Pleasant company, very cool.

I missed American Idol last night, and didn’t get to vote…
they’re announcing the final two tonight… I think nikki is gonna get voted off, which is too bad, because she’s my favorite, though Kelly really has the best voice, and I hope, ultimately she wins out over justin. I bet they’ll all get signed somewhere though, such a neat show. I like having all the best talent selected for me, laid out like a buffet.

I’m typing from my living room! On my ‘new’ laptop! Wireless rocks!

*boogies*

So cool! I wish it wasn’t so late. But we did some role playing tonight, because school starts for me tommorrow.

I really need to figure out where I need to be for that.

Good though, because Jaz came over and fixed it so I could run my screen at full res, instead of tiny and 16 color.

Yah! Happy.

Wow! A Laptop! Loot!

My parents gave me a laptop (compaq p2 7800) and a wireless router, and wireless ethercard for my birthday (the router was a ‘gift’ to my husband officially I think, but whee! Way cool!)

Buffy game! (So much fun!) (From husband)

WonderWoman Gift card from Borders (From husband)

Check from grandparents!

What a cool Birthday! And!! We went to takara and I had a huge plate of sushi, and some california rolls, and edamami beans, warm and salty, and some veggie tempura!

Then, out to my parents house for 2 types of cake and ice cream.

We had this crazy cherry cordial that had little chocolate cups(dime size diamater) with cherry filling, neato!

Birthday Doings

Saturday, August 24th, 2002

Whee, birthday day!

So far, I’ve slept in till 11. Read some more of The Subtle Knife
Second in a great book series suggested by Maciek and Kim. How do they know so many things I like to read?

I need to check on reservations for Takara tonight, make myself some eggs, and then I’m thinking of playing some more of the Buffy Xbox game my husband got me for my birthday (and gave me early last night). Its fun! and Buffy!

Birthday on horizon

We went to the Halo Regional tournament last weekend. Check out my writeup here

Frustrated, trying to figure out what to do on saturday, my birthday, (golden)

My husband has a car show, and since he’s the president of the mopar club, has to go. I kinda knew this a couple months ago, but somehow it’s slipped our minds. (I think this was why I was thinking of going to the anime con, but he kept making little noises like he didn’t want me to go)

and now, my birthday is this saturday, and he causally remembers that he can’t go to the ren faire on saturday with me and my family(which was my backup plan, because I haven’t made it to the faire all year…)

ack. So now, it’s just a few days away, and I have NO idea what is going on for my birthday. And I can’t help be sentimental about it. If there were actual ‘plans’ for friday or sunday, all worked out, I don’t think I’d have this anxiety, bleh.

I worked on my birthday list a bit yesterday…

Listmania birthday list I make a smaller one as to not overwhelm family.
General amazon wishlist Slightly larger. ;P

Happenings

Sunday, August 4th, 2002

Whee, weekend. I was home sick on friday, slept in till 3, but much better yesterday and today.

On Saturday my husband and I went to the Olbrich gardens yesterday, especially to see the Thai
pavilion that has recently been constructed/opened to the public here in town.

It was amazing!

I took several more pictures of other flowers and statues around the park, but will have to edit/resize them for another gallery sometime soon. So many pictures though, because I finally, finally was able to pick up a digital camera. So happy. I now am the proud owner of a Canon Elph 330, it’s soo cool. 2mp, and has the same brushed metal bodytype that my aps elph has. I could have gone with more megapixels, but this was one third the cost of the top of the lines, and seems more solid. Plus, I don’t know how much printing I’ll really be doing. Most all of my film pictures were scanned to show up here on Quixotica anyway. Very happy, I picked up a 128mb card, so that means lotsa pics. (I took over 75 the last 2 days, and took around 80 the first couple days I had it too.) So nice to have them all in one place, and not have to wait for developing or scanning.

I was able to hang with Ace and Jess last week too, we went out for dinner on thursday, and then they showed me some Chobits, and .hack anime !!! Both series are way awesome, can’t wait to see more.

Other than that, not a whole lot going on, getting used to my new job, the people, ect. It’s so nice that it’s very close to home.

Also, I’m signed up for a drawing fundamentals class at MATC this fall, still trying to get into the design fundamentals class, or at least another course so I can qualify for part time student. It’s exciting and scary to be following my dream of being an artist. I can’t wait to see how my skills will change and grow. Very cool.

Ok, I’ve been on the computer most of the day, and I think my husband needs to do some free lancing now. Have a great week!
