Anime Reactor was really really great. We got to hang out in the Artist Alley with Dirk, Brion, Bman, and Guardian Sun Studios.I spent most of my time in the Artist Alley, but had a great time chatting with and/or Brian depending on which side of the table I was stationed.
Rokuchan was sweet enough to give me a kick ass marker demo, so I could get a better idea of ways I can be copic-ing.
We had the best party friday night, a Comic Release Party for Dirk, Maciek and Roku and company. We had tons of people show up, and the con bishonens even dropped in for a bit. I wore the blue wig pictured and sparkly blue eyeshadow and had a fab time. (I think everyone did)
I was pleased as punch to get Gaia Online Buttons (my member name and a G-pin from Trex and chii dictator.
I was almost eaten by Noface on his way to the bathhouse.
I also got to hang with some of my platteville alums, which is always wonderful, it’s always a good day with Captain Global comes by.
This is the first con all year that I had time enough to relax and watch some of the things in the video rooms. (ok… I watched the last quarter of House of Flying Daggers, and it was at 2AM saturday. But Jim and I enjoyed what we saw anyway.)
Sunday I missed the Gaia get together because we were checking out of the room, but did make it to the Phil Moy inking demo, which was very cool. I took notes, though some of the concepts don’t translate well from action to sentences.
(I also took notes on Roku’s marker demo, and her panel, from Fandom to Stardom. I like taking notes at cons, otherwise things just get lost in the post con nap.)
I kinda blipped on our manga publishing techniques on sunday. We only had one program somehow for all of us at the table, and I had no clue who was going where and was in what. I pretty much decided it was someone else’s worry, and if I needed to be somewhere they’d tell me.
(I wasn’t on the panel, so it’s not a horrible misjudgement, but I do like to support my studiomates)
Mmm, we always eat the best food at the chicago cons. It was multi-cultural dinner weekend! Chinese-Tasty Cuisine, Hindi-Taste of India, and Japanese- Mitsuwa’s Food Court and Grocery Store.
The cons get better and better as we meet more and more awesome artists. It’s always so much fun to meet, party and learn from each other.
The drive home went really fast too, as we listened to my birthday gift to the Wicked Musical CD. We laughed so hard at the Loathing song, we played it twice!
